Achievement Unlocked: THANK YOU

From everyone here at Hexes & Bows, thank you. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to hang out with us during our live D&D streams. Thank you keeping our podcast in your ears during your morning commute or lunch break.

When I began shifting my focus from streaming on Twitch to publishing a weekly podcast showcasing awesome geeky things I love and things I love to share with awesome people, I never imagined we’d grow this fast. I never imagined people would reach out to us, let alone continue listening show after show.

Thank you for sharing these new adventures with us at Hexes & Bows. We will continue to strive for excellence in entertainment and provide you with honest, in-depth reviews, heartfelt podcast commentary, and imaginative live streams. We’ve got some great things planned for the near future, so stick around! Our tale isn’t over yet!

From the bottom of all our hearts, thank you for listening.

Sincerely,

Gnome, Tim, Joe, Hansard, Tara, Tony, and Chrissy

H&B PODCAST EPISODE 007: Extra Life United!

This episode of Hexes & Bows Podcast steps away from the world of tabletop gaming to discuss the extraordinary charity event known as Extra Life United! Join Gnome and Hansard as they recall their experiences at Coronado Springs Resort in Disney, Orlando, Florida! *Be advised, there is some adult language used after 00:49:00 as the conversation moves away from Extra Life.*

Gnome and Hansard happily share their experiences at Extra Life United 2017. Gnome, a volunteer, and Hansard, a competitor, offer two different viewpoints of this wonderful event that allowed many gamers to take home a chunk of $150,000 for their local children’s hospital through Extra Life!

We also talk about International TableTop Day which is coming up on April 29th, 2017! Let us know in the comments what games you’re playing for this epic day of gaming!

As the conversation continues, special guest Chris from Car Bomb Podcast returns to talk about Squarriors: The Card Game‘s current Kickstarter campaign with Gnome! Get more insight on the campaign, reasons to back, and how to play. STCG is over 200% funded, so definitely support their Kickstarter!

Join us next week as we return to our usual discussions about tabletop and roleplaying games! Thanks for listening!

Hexes & Bows: Return of the Podcast

Hey everyone!

I wanted to take a moment to apologize for not posting new episodes or content these last two weeks. Life is very hectic (in the best of ways) right now, and we were on hiatus for at least one of those weeks due to Extra Life United.

Our very own Hansard deserves a shoutout for playing games hard and earning a seat in the top 10 finalists at the Extra Life United tournament. He brings home $4,500 for his local children’s hospital! Great job, Hansard! We’re proud of you!

Now that schedules and personal obligations are set, we’ve got lots of plans coming to H&B that we want to share with you!

The podcast will be returning to its regular Monday release with the exception of tomorrow. Joe, Tim, and Hansard recorded an awesome episode that will be published shortly!

We’ll also start welcoming guests onto the show! The creators of Shattered Dawn on Kickstarter will be joining us April 6th to discuss their game! On April 20th, we’ll be welcoming miniature painter Iron Tusk Painting to share his work and some tips!

Speaking of Kickstarter, do check out Squarriors: TCG! We spoke of them back during episode one of our podcast. The project is live and funded in the first 12 hours! Creators Ashley Witter and Ash Maczko will be livestreaming April 6th to answer questions, so be sure to tune in!

Our next livestream of Dungeons and Dragons will be on April 16th at 1pm so come hang out, relax, and enjoy a roleplaying adventure with Grohl, Taliel, Makaria, and Teak as the mysterious Fey Queen visits the Material Plane in Neverwinter!

Thanks so much for listening! We can’t wait to make more tabletop related content for you!

H&B Podcast Episode 005: When is a Quest Not a Quest?

Did someone say roleplaying? Yes! Hexes & Bows Podcast finally starts roleplaying with special guest Chris from Car Bomb Podcast!

We’re joined today by variety podcaster Chris from Car Bomb Podcast (check out their show here!).  Us Americans are taught a thing or two about Tim Hortons and the paranoia and curse of playing “roll up the rim.” We also get a little serious and inquire about making roleplaying games more accessible by using American Sign Language.  While we don’t have any real answers, please inform us if you or someone you know plays any sort of TRPG while using ASL, we’d love to learn more!

This week Kickstarter recommendations include Companion’s Tale, Innocents, and Shore of Anaverde Card Set. Be sure to listen to learn more about these interesting games!

Now, we know we’ve been talking about roleplaying on the show, but tonight we finally begin! Sit back and listen to the stories of a group of NPC townsfolk kibitzing and kvelling in the Scroll and Bottle tavern hidden above a bookstore.  What happens when the city of Galter’s Mayor decides to squander away all of their taxes on a giant, singular diamond?

If your adventuring party does something silly, crazy, ridiculous, or just obscene to local NPCs, let us know! We’d love to share your experience as if your party traversed through the city of Galter!

Thanks for listening!

Be sure to follow us here on WordPress, Instagramand Twitter: we love hearing your comments and seeing what you’re playing!

Don’t forget to give a listen to Car Bomb Podcast for a variety of topics from geek to gaming to movies to music and so much more!

H&B Podcast Episode 004: 50 Shades of Gaming

Today’s Hexes & Bows Podcast episode is a little special.  Mr. and Mrs. Gnome have a solid heart-to-heart conversation about the influence of gaming in a relationship.

There are plenty of ways to get past hurdles in a relationship, but one of the best ways, at least for Joey and Tara, is discovering new board games and other games to play together.  Cooperative games are incredibly important in this geeky couple’s relationship and aided them in building stronger communication skills while deepening their 10 year relationship.

We also go a little deeper into how Dungeons and Dragons offers a deeper connection than other games have and the importance of storytelling and using your imagination.

Let us know what games you enjoy playing with your significant other! We’re always looking for new games to try out!

Games Discussed

World of Warcraft, Settlers of Catan, Elder Signs, Dungeons & Dragons, World of Darkness, Dead of Winter, Forbidden Island, Once Upon a Time, Descent, Arkham Horror, Apples to Apples, Cards Against Humanity, Secret Hitler, Masquerada,

Edit: SoundCloud is being silly and stopping the episode at the 50′ mark. We recommend listening to this week’s episode on iTunes or TuneIn! Sorry for any inconvenience!

Another awesome episode of Hexes & Bows is out today! (Be warned, there’s a bit of nsfw language use in this one!)

Fill your ears with the sweet, sultry voices of Gnome, Tim, Hansard, and first time co-host, Tara (aka Mrs. Gnome!). There’s plenty to talk about today, with topics ranging from roleplaying in non-roleplaying games, zombies, zombies, zombies!, and Gnome’s personal favorite topic of late 80s / early 90s childhood board games!

This week’s Kickstarter Spotlight showcases the very cool, very large game by ODAM Publishing called The Shared Dream. Listen to the podcast, see if it interests you, then head to their Kickstarter page and pledge! Act fast, because by the time this posts, the game has only 2 days left (but it’s already been funded!).

Is there a game you’d love to dig up from the attic or repurchase in order to play again? Let us know in the comments!

Games Discussed:

Dead of Winter, Pandemic, ODAM: The Shared Dream, Elder Signs, Lego games, COD, Pretty Pretty Princess, Mall Madness, Parasite Eve, Resident Evil, Zombicide, World of Warcraft, Lord of the Rings, Vampire the Masquerade, World of Darkness, Dream Phone, Crossfire, Where In the World is Carmen Sandiego?, Perfection, Cards Against Humanity, Lotteria
